There are two main methods of standard classification in China, one is to classify according to standardized objects, and the other is to classify according to the applicable fields of standards.
( 1 ) Classification according to the object of the standard This classification mainly explains the nature of the standard itself. It divides standards into two categories : technical standards and management standards. Technical standards are standards for technical matters that need to be coordinated and unified in the field of standardization. Management standards are standards for management matters that need to be coordinated and unified in the field of standardization. Technical standards and management standards can be further subdivided as follows :
Standards are divided into technical standards and management standards. Technical standards are divided into basic standards, product standards, method standards, safety and environmental protection standards. Management standards are divided into national economic management standards and enterprise production management standards.
( 2 ) Classification according to the applicable field of the standard This classification method is mainly used to explain the field of standard application. According to this classification method, the standard can be divided into 24 categories, and according to the national regulations, each category has a fixed letter as the standard code. These 24 categories of standards are : comprehensive ( A ), agriculture and forestry ( B ), medicine, health and labor protection ( C ), mining ( D ), petroleum ( E ), energy and nuclear technology ( F ), chemical industry ( G ), metallurgy ( H ), machinery ( I ), electrician ( K ), electronic technology and computer ( L ), communication and broadcasting ( M ), instrument and instrument ( N ), construction ( P ), building materials ( Q ), road and waterway transportation ( R ), railway ( S ), vehicle ( T ), ship ( U ), aviation and aerospace ( V ), textile ( W ), food ( X ), light industry and cultural and living goods ( Y ), environmental protection ( Z ). This classification method is conducive to the formulation, review, coordination and management of standards within the professional scope.
