The concept of printing is defined in the national standard
(GB98511.1-90) as "the of transferring the text and graphic information on the original to the printing stock by using printing plates or other methods". The traditional way of thinking is that: printing is make printing plates (printingplate) by using direct or indirect methods from the text original (wordoriginal) or image original (pictureoriginal), and then to apply adhesive materials on the printing plates, and under the action of external force, the adhesive color materials on the printing plates are transferred to the surface of the printing stock (printing), so as to obtain a batch of printed products. Printing is actually a general term for plate making (platemaking, which is to copy the original into a plate), printing (the text and graphic information on the printing plate is transferred to the surface of the printing stock), and post-press processing (post-pressfin, which is the processing of printed products according to the requirements and use performance, such as processing into books or making boxes, etc.). Printed matter has the function ofminating and storing information. It is different from the information storage methods of recording, video, film, and television.
